This may be an "I'm leaving DA" journal, but not for the usual dramatic reasons.  In fact, the time I've spent on DA has been exceptionally drama-free.  The reason is simply that DA needs ever-increasing amounts of bandwidth in order to load what should be simple pages, bandwidth that I simply can't spare in my current budget.  Pages on DA take between 500% and 1,000% longer to load than pages elsewhere (even Twitter).  I often have to suspend most other Internet activity, such as Furcadia (when I'm on) and low-bandwidth radio streams, when browsing DA, and it's only by graces that I don't have to shut down my IM connections as well.  I'll still try to be here, but only when I'm somewhere that actually has the bandwidth DA needs.
